About Us
Combining clinical excellence and convenience
The Nottingham PET/CT Centre is a purpose-built facility at Nottingham City Hospital. Housed in a modern and spacious building, the Nottingham PET/CT Centre is finished to the highest standards with comfortable and welcoming patient waiting areas, changing rooms and state-of-the-art scanning and clinical facilities.
Enhancing the patient experience
The Centre offers easy access to both able and disabled visitors, with highly trained staff ready to make the patient experience as pleasant as possible. Our PET/CT personnel are some of the most experienced in the UK, having collectively conducted in excess of 2,700 PET/CT patient scans, and to ensure patient safety we have a qualified Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) and carry out regular Clinical and Health Safety Audits.
Committed to clinical excellence and service quality
The Nottingham PET/CT Centre prides itself on clinical excellence. PET/CT scanning is a highly specialised field that requires real expertise and extensive training and InHealth retains the services of some of the most highly experienced and reputable NHS Nuclear Medicine Consultants and Radiologists to facilitate an accurate diagnosis and ensure the best possible outcome for your patients.
The PET/CT service we offer:
- Appointments within one week of referral
- Report available within 48 hours of the scan (or sooner if urgent)
- Immediate faxing of approved reports
- Quick and efficient billing system for referrers
- Patient information leaflets accredited by the Plain English Society and available in 17 languages (on request)
Delivering rapid and sophisticated reporting
Speed and accuracy are of the essence in reporting. The Nottingham PET/CT Centre has a tailor-made reporting area that provides the reporting team with access to the latest software, as well as Internet-based reporting and full connectivity to Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS). All scans can be accessed by a multi-modality fusion workstation. Reports are available within 48 hours, and our Radiologists are also available by arrangement to discuss their reports with referrers.
The scanning service is supported by a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning tool. This includes Siemens Esoft image registration and review software package, which enhances oncology workflow between diagnosis and treatment.
Harnessing the latest scanning technology
InHealth is committed to employing the latest technology for the benefit of referrers and their patients. The Nottingham PET/CT Centre is equipped with one of the most technically advanced scanners, the Siemens Biograph 3D 16 slice PET/CT scanner. It delivers consistently outstanding image quality, enabling greater image accuracy for small lesion detection, and the 70cm open view gantry with wide flared aperture provides greater comfort for patients and increased acceptance by those with claustrophobia. The Siemens Biograph 3D offers a large PET/CT field of view, which allows true whole body imaging for most patients in one scan. The Centre also has a cyclotron on site run by PETNET. This gives them the potential to perform examinations with isotopes other than 18FDG should the demand arise.
Nottingham City Hospital
In 2004, Nottingham City Hospital (on behalf of Mid Trent Cancer Network) and InHealth Limited (formerly Lister InHealth) signed a contract to build a dedicated PET/CT imaging centre. Building work started at Nottingham City Hospital in Spring 2005 and the service opened to patients in early 2006.
The scanner was installed and is operated by InHealth Limited whilst PETNET Pharmaceuticals installed and operate the cyclotron and radiopharmacy production unit.
Approximately 1,200 local patients benefit from this facility every year.
